Question:
OK IS THERE A DIFFERENCE between them because i was looking at 6"x9" 5-way 460 watt speakers for my car and 5"x7"-4-way 240 watts ,would that make any difference? do those suit each other?

How do i connect my mp3 player to my car stereo ?
It is all a marketing gimmick 6X9 2 way 3 way 4 way etc. are all the same with one exception the tweeter is bigger on the 3 way than the 2 way and 4 way bigger than 3 etc...they charge you way more money but you will never get a 3 way sound out of a coaxial speaker.or 1 speaker even if it has 100 tweeters on it. the speaker will still technacally be a 2 way...1st sound is low or mids depending on the size of the spks. the 2nd is the tweeter this is where 2 way comes into play to get a 3 way you would need a componet set and it would include a speaker for only midrange a speaker designed to hit lower freq. and a speaker designed to hit high range freq. (tweeter) but only one tweeter a 3 way might look like a 6.5 a 4' and a 1' tweeter then you could get 3 way sound 6.5 for mid bass 4' for mid range vocals and 1' for high hats. Also car audio has no regulation on how to rate speakers. you could go to wal mart right now and buy a set of cheapo's that say the handle 400 watts then go to a retailer and see a set of alpine 6x9 that only handle 200 the 400 watt spks dont sound better trust me. the alpines will sound 10000 times better because it can handle power doesnt mean it sounds good or better. especially if you have a deck that is 50x4 and no amp what do you care how much they handle, you will never get them to their max it would actually benifit you to go smaller wattage and try to come as close to the spks power with the power you have to get the best soundI just purchased an amp, speakers, and head unit. how do i hook it all up?
the difference comes down to clarity. Wattage is how much power they could handle. Anyway it depends on what you want to spend. Also company choice is important too.I prefer Blaupunkt personally"Way" means how many speaker devices there are... like a tweeter, horn, midrange, woofer would be a 4 way. Seperating out the sound allows for clearer reproduction of the signal for those frequencies. Power isn't always loudness - speakers are inefficient so you have to listen to then. Any pairs work together - the final sound has to sound right for you...and your car.
Why do some people do not like Audiobahn?
2 way speakers have a woofer and a tweeter - 2 speakers. 3 ways have a woofer tweeter and a mid range - 3 speakers. 4 ways and 5 ways have a woofer, maybe 2, a tweeter maybe 2 and 1 or 2 midrange speakers. There may be something called a horn in there too. Either would work fine for you. The 5 way speakers may give you a little more range, but you'll never hear it with your naked ear. What gauge speaker cable for car speakers?
The difference is how many tweeters are included. 2-way speakers have a midrange cone and one tweeter. 5-way speakers have four tweeters. Anything more that a 3-way is pointless. There are better ways to get more treble. The power handling of the speaker is not nearly as important as the power rating of your amplifier. If you're using an aftermarket deck, chances are good that you're pushing no more than 15 watts RMS per channel. With a factory deck, you MIGHT be pushing 5-10 if you're lucky. With that in mind, you'd be better off with some 50-100 watt speakers that are well made. What kind of subs do you have?
6"x9" 5-way 460 watt speakers, 5"x7"-4-way 240 watts ,would that make any difference? What car/truck speakers have the most bass output?
The 3 way, 4 way and 5 way are essentially how many channels the audio processor in the amp will divide the sound into. This also means you have at least 3-5 speakers (Some may be sharing enclosures to save space). However, you have to understand that the wattage of the system is not how much sound they output, but how much energy they use to run. I've seen low watt systems that can blow the socks off of larger systems.
The inches of the cone are where they got your inch measurements. And the actual sound is produced by the magnets in the back of the cone, and not by the cone itself. The cone itself is to help the sound reverberate as apposed to shaking the entire enclosure.
My suggestion, is to test out the systems in the store, if they have them. Turn them all the way up, and then all the way down. If they have rich sound at any level of volume, you know you have a full range of tweeters and bass.
It doesn't matter how many it is. It's all deppend on the quality. If you have 5way jensens and 2way infinitys more then likely you will get much better sound out of the infinitys.
