if you want quality sound, then get either one or two ten inch speakers in a sealed box. put in an amp that puts out about 300-500 watts rms (700-1000 watts peak) and you should get good, tight, fast bass with a flat frequency response and not too many rattles. 12" subs are loud yet not as clean unless you put out a lot of money. some good brands were already listed in the answers like JL, alpine, mtx and kicker. these are common and easy to find, there is a large range of products that they all sell.What are the best 6x9 car speakers money can buy?

Youll need a wiring kit to hook it all up with. Now the type of amp youll need depends on how many watts your woofers can hold and what your willing to pay. I have two 15' Kicker subwoofers that can hold 1200 watts of power on each subwoofer,so I bought a Kicker amp that pushes about 1000 watts so I dont have to worry about busting my subwoofers. If you want a nice all around sound I would go with Sony Xplode. Theyre pretty reasonable and sounds great. The box really doesnt matter too much. As long as its nice and solid. I hope I helped.
Depends on what you want. Do you want it to sound good or do you just want it really loud? If you want quality subs, go with JL Audio. A little pricey but sound quality is very good. If you just want volume I'd go with Alpine, Boston, Kicker, Rockford..all are very well known names and are easily going to blow your ride.
