What is wrong with my stereo? Toyota Tacoma 6 disc stock stereo?

Has anyone else had problems with their stereo. I have a 2006 Tacoma that I love and the Stereo was fantastic and now all of a suden the sound is awful and lacks range. It just sounds muffled.
