An ohm is a measurement of resistance. The more ohms the more resistance, so to over come the resistance you need a more powerful amp (or different speaker configuration). You can run a less powerful amp on 2 ohms.
Can my Ford Fiesta's 6000CD CD/Tuner play MP3s?
The ohm is a unit of electrical resistance. Its value does not in itself represent power. It would be improper to state that 4 ohms is either more or less powerful than 2 ohms. It is like asking if 4 pounds is more powerful than 2 pounds. I hope this helps.Hi. What would be the output change from my 4ohm two channel 100 watt rms amp.?
First of all I imagine you're talking about speakers. Ohms is resistance so you need more power to drive a 4 ohm than a 2 ohm. Usually higher quality speakers are higher ohms (4, 6 or even 8), but you need a more powerful amp to drive them.4 ohms is twice as much as 2.
To install sueside doors for a S500?
i thought the lower the ohm on subs, the stronger the bass?Make sure your amp is stable at 2 ohms. If not, run 4 ohm speakers or you might let the smoke out.
Subwoofer Control for PIONEER DEH-P590IB PREMIER?
Part of the key is the speaker's Ohms rating combined with the sensitivity rating, not just the Ohms rating itself.i.e. a speaker with a rating of 4 Ohms/86dB sensitivity will require more power (higher current capability from the amp, e.g. like 45 amps peak/channel) to produce sound at the same volume level as a speaker with 4 Ohms/90dB sensitivity.
Speakers that are less than 8 Ohms benefit from amps that can handle higher currents before clipping. Many of the cheaper amps (especially in receivers) deliver the voltage, but can't deliver the current (amps) to drive 4 Ohm speakers without clipping.
What size amp do i need to run 2 10" subs in my car?

I took my mustang 01 mach 460 6 cd stereo apart now i need help?
the above was coppied from a speaker forum. a 4 ohm speaker requires more power than a 2 ohm. that doesn't mean it will always sound better or louder. there is a lot of good articles on speakers if you search the internet. clipping means the amp cuts off because it can't handle the power needed and it heats up too much.
