I have an 04 Explorer Sport trac that i am trying to install new speakers, which factory wire is positive/neg?

I cant figure out which wire is positive/negative, when i hook it up they sound close to the same both ways, how would i be able to find out which way is right?

With speakers, it doesn't matter (kind of). If you are replacing all of the speakers, just be consistant. The only thing you are looking for is phaseing. If all the speakers are out of phase, then all the speakers are in phase.

If you are installing all new speakers, the above answer is correct; just note the factory wire position in the plug, and use the same wire for positive on all four speakers.

both wires are probably the same color, but one should have a line or writing on it. speakers are marked, somehow. either witha painted dot
or a + or - . just make sure all 4 of the same wire, get to all 4 of either + or 4-.as youve already found out, it dont make much differance w/ the sound,inless you get them mix-matched. then there could be, depending on unit, minor ones..
