this question is way too vague... but I will try to give you some imput anyway.

Can I run my front speakers off my head unit and my back speakers off my amp?

For SQ I like brands like TC Sounds, Fi, RE, Eclipse, Focal and many more along those lines

For SPL I would go with subs like Fi, RE, Digital Designs, Ascendant Audio, and Kicker

personally i think the best woofers are the ones that are not only loud, but sound great while being loud. sloppy bass drives me nuts. i like a nice clean tight bass sound. so personally i like SQ woofers. these brands make good SQ woofers.

Honestly, Metal and Kicker are both right by what they way. Notice however, neither one of them suggested Kicker products. Wonder why. Kicker is ok, loud, very loud, but sounds like butt. If you want bass so loud you can't even hear the music, great. RE are amazing subs overall, they offer a medium into both SPL and SQ. FI is a good cheap sub also, but I have heard stories of having trouble with their warranty. Rockford is pretty good as well, went down hill a little back, but slowly building their way back up.
