The burning smell may be coming from the a subwoofer. If the subwoofer's voice coil was damaged it may be shorting the speaker outputs, causing the amp to go into protect mode. Disconnect your speakers from the amp and see if the "protect" light still comes on. If it does, there's most likely an internal problem in the amp; if it doesn't, then chances are a blown subwoofer is causing the problem.More Questions & Answers ...
