OK i want to put an amp in a pt cruiser.?

In the pt cruiser i have the stock dash stereo i herd to hook up an amp you need to buy a dash stereo with an RCA out put to make the amp work but i want to know if you can hook it up to a factory stereo and if you can how do you do it from head to toe.

To add an amplifier to a factory stereo, you need to either purchase something called a line-out converter, or use an amplifier with high-level inputs. In either case, you'll be tapping into the factory speaker wires to provide an input signal for the amplifier. The factory speakers don't have to be disconnected to do this.
