High level inputs vs low level inputs?

Question:
i am installing a new amp to a factory radio, the amp is a mtx thunder with high level inputs, the guys at circuit city say i should buy a 40 converter and install 100 bucks worth of rca cable cant i just use the high level inputs with speaker wire? does it make that big a dif?

Anyone have any limited edition phoenix gold amps?

High level inputs won't sound quite as good, and if you turn the stereo up loud and clip the radio output they can damage your speakers. Also if you have certain vehicles with a premium sound system (some fords for sure) the high level converter in the amp will lower the resistance in the circuit too much and cause the factory amp to shut off. 100 bucks for RCA cables is a freakin rip off regardless though. If you can edit your question with what kind of car you have it might help tell how important a converter will be, or how useful, because they may just be trying to sell you an external high to low level converter which does exactly the same thing as the amp. If they have a converter to tie into a factory amp hook up or something like that you might want to consider buying it because it will sound better and work better overall. Haggle with them on the RCA cables though, the prices especially on install accessories at CC are not set in stone. I'd be asking for them for free if you're buying a big system.

Is there already an amplifier bypass inside the 2001 hyundai XG300 when you buy it?

Yes it does.

I have bought a 2004 Toyota Camry and I wish to upgrade audio to mp3 player and wondering how to do that..?

Regardless if you use a line-level-converter or the high level inputs, the sound will suffer a bit.

Best Eualizer Settings For Car Audio?

$100 for RCA cables is stupid crazy. Go to Wal-Mart and look for much cheaper ones. If nothing else buy a cheap amp kit as it will have the RCA cables in it.

If i'm getting a brand new Mazda speed6 would four 15" JL subs sound like crap compared to 4, 12" subs?

yes you can use the high level inputs it will be fine.it sounds like they were trying to increase their commission.you can get the converter and rca cables a lot cheaper than that too if you wanted to go that route.go to partsexpress.com part #265-025 or 265-0256 ($4.20) for rca converter and 265-210 for the rca's ($9.88) or you can get a wiring kit with the rca's for $19.80 265-035

Do u think 6 kicker 12 inch kicker L7 ?

If you're installing an amp for a subwoofer, it's unlikely you'd notice a difference between the two types of inputs.
