Before you just start twisting wires together, BEWARE, crossing channels or touching the Positive and negative wires of the same channel while the power is connected will cause you to blow out that channel(lf, lr, rf, rr)in the head unit. Do not connect your power wires until last. Your speaker wires will be in pairs, a solid one and a striped one of the same color. the striped one is your negative. Usually on gm's the rear speakers are blue/blue, and tan/yellow... you can check them simply by pulling the speaker out to check the wires. You may be able to find a wiring schematic online, I would check that first, cuz u dont want to screw up your head unit.Yes, its perfectly fine to splice wires. The harness is only there to make connections easier. Before you go messing around though, disconnect any wires on the negative terminal of the battery so you don't accidentally cause a short somewhere. Also, when you connect the wires, make sure they're completely covered in either electrical tape or heat shrink wrap. The wrap would be a better way to go over tape. Sorry I don't know which colored wires go where. It's possible that they differ from one car to another, which again makes the wiring harness a good idea.
