What is the true power of subwoofer/speaker with specificatins: Norm .40 W , 240W Maximum?

i have a 2006 2500 quad cab which place would be best to put subs and amps without them being in the way?

Not positive, but I'm assuming that 40 watts is gonna be your rms and 240 is going to be the peak rms. So your looking at constantly running around 40 watts with the potenial to handle short periods where up to 240 watts are being produced, any more then that and you risk blowing your speakers/subs.

Can I use a 04 factory radio in an 02 model? I've been told I can't go backwards.?

the nominal power handling of 40watts is how much it can handle continuously without problems. Any more than that for extended periods of time can cause damage. Maximum power handling has no real meaning
