Question:
I decided to purchase a decibel meter to see how loud my car stereo is. On average, it is around 110-120 dB. However, it is not 'piercing' high pitched noises, but low frequency bass. Is this just as damaging to my ears as opposed to 120 dB of high pitched noises like a gunshot or ambulance?

Does anyone know where i can get my speakers hooked up in my car for cheap, in san diego?
No. Think of the ear as having an acoustical frequency center. That would be about 2k-4kHz. Anything above 20k and under 20Hz is inaudible. And its not the High pitch that pierces (10k) but actually between 2k and 4k. Your ears are more sensitive to these and more damaging at that range.I would think so. Especialy in small cars where you can realy feel the bass. I would think that it could possibly blow your ear drum
I'm not sure, but I would think so.
Do rear speakers usually have a seperate fuse or connection on the stereo of a car?
To the average human ear, it can only hear freq.'s down to about 20Hz. You'll notice that someone with loud treble (midrange is actually what the ear is most sensitive to) will suffer more rapid hearing loss than someone with just alot of bass. Bass will make your ears pop, and i'm sure it's not Good, but treble (upper midrange, actually) will leave your ears ringing when you get out of the car.
