What causes a crackly scratchy car speaker?

You don't specify if they are dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm.

Linn kans mk1.suitable amplification.?

the amp must be at least 800 watts first off. because you must have enough wattage to cover your RMS, now if you want them loud then you need to probably use one 800 watt amp on both and you will get the most out of both of the speakers, but if you want to use one then you need to get an amp with at least 1600 watts it shouldn't overheat anymore, you just are trying to push a little too much with that one amp that probably doesnt have enough power. it also would be a good idea to use bridgable amps so that you can use two bride them together and get the most out of them.
