Question:
I recently installed a new car radio for a friend of mine. I hate to slice and splice wires together because the adaptor we bought didn't fit the new radio. All of the connections are correct according to both of the papers that came with the radio and adaptor. When I fired up the car, the radio came on but no sound could be heard, neither from the fm station nor from a cd. There is no noise at all, even when the stereo is turned up all the way. It is strange because I would expect to hear a hiss or something
Answers:
how to install the capacitor in the 12volts battery?
Make sure that all the wires are hooked up correctly to the speakers, if that doesnt work maybe the radio is blown.which sound system would be better for the loudest bass?
You fried the radio because you wired it wrong.how do i get the engine noise out of my 6x9?
If all the connections are correct and the deck is working the only other thing I could think of would be that the car had a factory amplifier. In this setup the deck only delivers signal level, not speaker level, outputs to an amplifier which then distributes to all the speakers.
If this is the case you will need to figure out if there is a wire in the car's harness that is not hooked up to the new deck, specifically the Amp "turn on" wire.
You can search the net with the model and year of the vehicle to see if there is an amp somewhere (usually in the back behind a trim panel).
If you don't think that there is a factory amp, disconnect the new deck and take a AA battery and momentarily hook it up to on of the speakers and listen for a crackle. This could narrow the problem down to the deck.
I have a car DVD/MP3 player can I burn videos on to a regular?
One last thought, I have seen a couple of decks that will have a setting to turn off the speaker outputs if you are only using the Pre Amp outputs. Worth a look through the deck's menu.
Good Luck!

How do I connect Alpine MRP-M650 amplifire with 1 Alpine SWS-1242D subwoofer?
Hi I am experiencing exactly the same situatuation with a second hand car.I bought it from a private buyer and they installed a new (second hand) radio in it for me.
This worked well for four days and then while driving the sound cut out though power was still on. I thought cleaning the car I had got damp in the radio and waited It came back on two days later for a minute and cut off again.
I bought a new radio and installed it a couple of weeks later with the same connections,
It powers up but does not play sound again. I have unplugged the speaker connection and tested each line individually and they work
while plugging the connection back in the sound plays through the speakers for a few seconds then cuts out. I can hold the connection just touching the socket and it plays but any movement cuts it out.
The power does not switch off and the radio is still fine.
I have since worked out the old radio is still working but something stops play
This is all happening in a MK3 Golf
if you have thicker wires connected to your subs will they hit harder or does it matter?
Please I also need Help!
