Do not buy another battery. Do not buy any number of farads (capacitors). They WILL make your problem worse. Extra batt.'s and any capacitors just stress (and kill) alts. cause the alts. get overloaded and go out.Your electrical system can only get power your alternator can make. If your car has a tiny (10g for example) charge wire from alt. to batt. that has ability to only carry 40amps and you have a 150amp (max, all fuses added together) audio system, you need to upgrade the charge wire to -at least- 4g (capable of up to 150amps).
This will give you the results caps are promised to do (which DON'T, don't waste your money). In order to utilized the extra charging abilities your alternator now has, you also have to upgrade your ground wires in your engine bay(to upgrade one w/out the other is useless).
This is known as the Big3 Upgrade. Anyone reading this need to do it.
Do the Big3 Upgrade -power (charge) wire straight from alt. to batt. (can still retain factory wiring), ground from batt. to frame, and ground from frame to engine block- in 4g or bigger wire to reap the benifits that caps are sold for.
See, caps are only good for power fluctuation of -up to- .01 volts, no matter how many farads you have, so they really (REALLY) do NOTHING but look cool.
Most caps, with volt meters on them, actually read from .3 to .5 more volts than your electrical system actually has.
Marketing scam? Absolutely.
EVERYONE, do the Big3 Upgrade and say good-bye to dimming lights, unless, of course, your alt. just doesn't make enought amp. In that case you'd need a HO alt. if not duals (cheaper).
