Question:
its a panasonic, mp3 stereo. but Im assuming its not the stereo itself but rather the way its connected, cos my previous stereo had the same problem (but I just thought it was cos it was crappy). When we installed the new stereo, but just matched the wires colours. Everything else works fine. What do I do differently? Is it a problem with the connection to the batt>?

what colors are the accessory and battery wires for a 1990 Toyota corolla radio?
Sounds like one of your wires is crossed...had the same problem with a new Pioneer I had installed professionally. Took it back to the installer and they pulled the unit out and switched two of the wires around and then it worked fine. Don't know what wires they switched though but you may be able to figure it out with your wiring diagram that came with your new unit. Sorry I couldn't help you more but it's probably an easy fix.yes it is the way you hooked it up/ The main Red power wire has got to go to a sorce of power that remains Hot while the key is in the off position
How do I install an Aux In jack in a 2001 Ford Taurus?
If you have a manual for the stereo find the wire marked permanent power and ensure it is hooked directly to a live circuit. That wire has to have power even when the vehicle is turned off to ensure it can retain the memory.gettin speakers, help a brotha out?

There should be 2 power connections to the stereo. A switched power source and a unswitched power source. How do I keep the trunk of my car from rattling when I turn up the bass?
The switched power source supplies power only when the ignition is turned on. You have this connection correct as your radio works when the car is running.
KICKER SOLO X S10X 10" S10X1 and NEW KICKER KX2500.1 MON AMP? HELP!!?
The unswitched power source supplies power all of the time. This power source would keep power to the radio so it keeps its settings when the ignition is off, such as the radio and clock. You have this connection incorrect.
what kicker brand amp would run 2 15in kickerCVX subs?
Check the radio wiring instructions and find the wire that goes to an unswitched power source. Once you find this wire, connect it to a fused circuit that stays on all the time, even when the car is turned off.
Well, it is possible that one "wire" requires continueous "power" to mainatain it's memeory, - just as the car's computer requires "memory power"..... Disconnect the battery, and you have lost the ""driving habits" part of vehicles memory! It is more or less the same thing, Remember that the "cruise control" forgets the last speed setting you had on it everytime you turn the key off? Same deal, - power is removed from the circuit!
New Head units comming out HELP!! please?
It could get worse, if you happen to have one of the cars with the "theft resistant" computer/car alarm in it, and you disconnect the battery, it thinks you are "stealing" the car, -so it shuts everything dowm, and you can't even get it to run!
what subwoofer is reated with the best quality??
So the first thing is "read instructions" -- if you still have them, - and see what wire is supposed to have power all the time! You might also find that there is a fuse in this circuit that has always been "blown".
What are the radio color codes for a 93 ford probe?
Some cars have ignition systems (disconnect) so that you can't listen to radio with the key in "acc" position too! So not all wiring systems are the same from car to car!
Make sure that the YELLOW wire is connected to a constant source of power. A constant source of power is one that it always on regardless of the ignition key's position. This will keep memory to your radio stations, your clock, and when you turn your car back on your radio will start playing from where it left off; cd or radio. The other wire that is important is the RED wire. This is the accessory wire that needs to be connected to the ignition key. You want to connect it to one that has power for accessories, not for ignition so that you can sit and listen to your radio without the ignition on if you want. This wire should not have power when the car is starting, but while the car is running after it starts. A test light is handy in finding the proper wires, however, for the saftey of sensitive computer wires in today's cars, a multimeter should be used. Good luck!
