Jeep wont start.?

it doesnt always have to be the battery you could have a bad starter. i had this happen to my van i thought the battery was dead so i charged it and it just clicked so i bought a new one thinking the battery was shot and it did the same thing which left one item the starter. but if it does kind of turn over then check for spark and if you have spark check for fuel if you have that then (if you have one) use a compression tester and check compression and if it still doesnt start which would be strange then you have a completely different problem.

I have had this occur to me on an intermittent basis.
There have been times when my 94 Cherokee sport won't even give me a click.
However, after waiting a few minutes and trying it a few times, it comes to life. I haven't had this actually investigated by a mechanic yet, but have had a couple of inputs from mechanics who have heard my testimony.

One, there is a possibility that there is a faulty (but still functional) starter fuse. (kinda like being functionally illiterate)

Two, there is a higher possibility that the gear shift was slightly out of position and the safety feature that prevents the car from being started in this condition is preventing a starter connection.
(my guess is that it eventually "wiggles" back into position from me shifting my weight and actually manipulating the floor shift slight out and then back into PARK.
