A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!
if a diesel cuts out after 30 secs to a minute, it is always an air leak on the low pressure side of the fuel system.
(between the fuel tank and the fuel injection pump)
this will most likely be at the fuel filter, simply remove it and refit using a new seal, this WILL fix your problem! 9 times out of 10, and cost you about 30p for a seal.
