Which German car maker makes the Ford Mondeo?
I own a shop, and I can tell you this; The best thing you should do is; go to the parts store and order, and/or purchase a Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle. They don't cost that much, and have the answers you need to almost any question you may have about the vehicle. They are well worth the money. They cost around $20, and to have that information is well worth the twenty bucks. The IAT sensor is almost always located in the air intake duct between the air filter housing, and the throttle body. Some vehicles hide it down under the air filter inside the box that houses the filter, and you have to remove the box to find it. The coolant temperature sensor is almost always located in the intake, on or very near the housing for the thermostat. This way it can measure the temperature of the coolant as it exits to the radiator, thus giving the correct information of the actual temperature of the engine. If it was located anywhere else it wouldn't give you the temperature of the engine, but the temperature of that side of the engine, and would totally miss the other side. As the coolant leaves the engine to go to the radiator is the only place that you can measure the actual temperature of the entire engine as a whole. As for them combining the IAT and the Mass air flow sensors into one, no they haven't done this as I know of.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!
