Nope. Probably some other company's hide-a-ways adapted to a Chevy by a tinkerer or customizer. Back then we made several model GM vehicles with hide away headlites. Come to think of it we made everything with the right option pkg having Hideaway Headlites as did Ford and Chrysler / Dodge and American Motorsthe vehicle you saw was a 1968 Chevrolet caprice classic...it came with retractable headlamp cover,s..vacuum operated.when the headlight,s were turned on.
What you saw was actually a 1968 or 1969 Chevrolet Caprice, which is an upscale version of the Impala full size car. In 1968 & 1969 hide away headlights were used on upscale Camaro's also, in fact many of the big 4 AMC, GMC, Chrysler & Ford used them till the early 70's. Some worked off vacuum control and some were electric.
