During and after the Korea war the market had changed and money was hard to get and spend. Many car companies died during this era and or bought out due to competition. When the gasoline crunch of the 70's hit that took out a few more. Then Daimler Chrysler bought out Rambler, AMC to get their hands on the jeep. But as far as cars being of poor quality. NO! rambler in fact had great cars past and up till their company died.

Hey , i m getting ZEN 98 model in 1.3lac.65000km driven..from Maruti true value...?? is this deal gud enuf?

it wasn't the quality and rambler was ahead of the times on a lot of what was in their cars, it's mainly what people like in body style. If you have a company with four models that look a like except for head lights and tail lights one or two of those models will fail. And it's the same between different auto makers if there models look alike then somebody is going to lose. And on the other hand you can make some nice looking cars but have a lot of repair problems like Dodge and word of mouth will ruin you.

Engines: Aluminum block vs. Iron block?

He's right to a point. Oldsmobile was disbanded simply because it was a redundant line to Buick and Pontiac. With GM changing the direction of what Buick is now becoming, and Pontiac moving in to a Gen X position of flashy cars and power Oldsmobile really did not have a place in the market any longer. GM made the call to disband Olds. AMC was purchased by Chrysler because they wanted the JEEP name and line. Again they where unable to find a niche in the market for the Eagle line and disbanded that. They still have JEEP which is keeping the AMC plants alive for the most part. Rambler and Studebaker just simply lost more and more market shares because of design and manufacturing problems. They never did have many plants and had a difficult time keeping up with demand. People stopped buying the product and the companies closed. Even today Chrysler is facing the possibility of having to close its doors too to them losing more and more market shares. The disbanding of Plymouth allowed them to retool the plants to produce the new charger and soon challenger. They hope this will allow them to survive a little longer in the market and turn things around.

Is there a caprice LTZ (5.7NON POLICE ) engine from 94-96 ? should 4.3 litter engine be a V6 ?

Americans making purchase of foreign automibles didn't help. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Fact is though Americans have purchased themselves out of work. It isn't just cars. We manufacture very, very little. We are a service nation. Have you tried lately to get a real job? Only in the service area. Medical, Wal Mart, Burgers, Etc. Your federal goverment owes almost 8.9 trillion dollars, the total national debt is almost 5.5 times that amount. Americans broke the afore mentioned auto makers. Our linen manufactures, Levi Jeans, T.V. manufactures, and many more. Think about that the next time you drive your toyota, or Jeans made in other countries. Many more people other than you will very soon be sad that Ford, GMC, Crysler are broke.
They will be sad that they purchased big screen tv's made in China, etc. I'm going to stop now. You get my point. Prove or disprove all crap that others tell you.

Wat is the diff for lancer cs3 n cs5? any pics to show the 2 of them?

Studebaker ceased its automotive business in 1965 because it cost them substantially more to build their cars than the competition. One expense supposedly was the company's too expensive labor. Does this sound familiar? Studebaker was very innovative, the Avanti is a good example.

American Motors Corporation was formed in 1954 with the merger of Nash and Hudson. It was absorbed into the old Chrysler Corporation in 1987. The 1954 and 1987 mergers occurred because of the expense of technical improvements and maintenance of a large product line overwhelmed these relatively small manufacturing companies.

How many miles can I go before I NEED an oil change? (according to Honda 'viscosity' gauge)?

The Rambler, which was a model, not a make of car, did not "die" in the sense of the other companies mentioned here. This name was just phased out over a period of years within the AMC product line. I think 1969 saw the last use of the Rambler name.

Ford Expedition Question Again?

As the other responder said, Oldsmobile was retired because it no longer had a distinctive market niche. Buick and Pontiac were duplicating its market - an inefficiency which GM did not need. Nevertheless is was sad to see a marque disappear after a hundred years of existence.
