Vehicles are identified by both model, and sub-model designations. GT may mean "Grand Touring" and LS "Luxury sedan" for example. Other times they don't mean much of anything but still designate trim packages. Lots of people will tell you they drive a Chevrolet Silverado for example, but in reality "Silverado" is only a designation of a trim package that comes on sedans, pick up trucks, etc.can i flat tow a nissan 4x4 frontier?

It means nothing really, just badge engineering. A GLS car would probably be the top of the range and come with such delights as electric windows and leather upholstery etc.The sister cars in the range would not have electric windows or leather upholstery, probably called an LS.
It was done to appeal tp snobs and creeps in management who wish to show their status in life by their car. Sad really.
