The absolute best motor you can put in a Chevy is the small block 350 it is powerful and reliable opposed to the 305 which has weaker rods. But any Chevrolet motor will work 305,327,350,small block 400, 454Small blocks are easy ( some were stock with the v8 ) but any chevy motor will fit .
