Question:
My driver's side seatbelt buckle no longer works, and I would like to move the middle or passenger's seatbelt receptacle over to replace the driver's. It appears that you need a special tool to unbolt the seat belt receptacles. Anyone know how to do this?

Wot date is the new vw r36 out??
Well, you could try to move 1 buckle over, and you would need a T-50 torque bit to take it loose, but i don't think that you would be happy trying to move it due to the way it would fasten back up. Another thing that you can try to do, and it will probably work better for you, is kinda hard to explain, but simple to do..Take a very small regular screw driver and where the silver part of the cover snaps down over the back piece, pry the cover down to allow it to unsnap. The cover will split off and lift up. You will see that the inner spring is broken.. You can take the middle buckle apart and use the spring and the inner parts to repair the driver side buckle. You can slide the cover back over, and squeeze the cover back on, and it will snap back on tight. The seat belt light will stay on, but at least you can buckle the belt safely.
Hope it helps..
Slide seat forward and flip up. Look for seat belt under seat and remove retaining bolt with socket and ratchet or wrench. if you have the club cab may have a piece of plastic over it. remove plastic first. installation is reverse of removal
