Ok, saw i got offered this great deal on an older ferrari. It's a 1987 ferrari 328 gts for $30k. Is it worth the money or is upkeep going to outweight the savings?

That you're looking at a GTS--the carbureted model--makes maintenance a little different. It will need a carburetor tune every two months or so with moderate driving; perhaps every six months or year if it's a summer car.
The 3 year/30,000 mile belt service is the most reasonable of all Ferraris--approximately $3,000. The interval can actually be stretched to 5 years if you haven't exceeded the mileage, but that's the absolute limit.

As long as that 328 has a KNOWN and well-documented, regular service history, it is an excellent deal, and you should go for it. 328's are highly thought-of and FUN road cars.

I read an article about Ferrari 308/328 somewhere a while ago. I remember it saying that even though parts are still expensive, they are nowhere near as expensive as, say a Testarossa, or a 348. In these cars, the engine has to be removed when you need to replace the timing belts. On the 308/328, most service can be performed WITHOUT taking the engine out of the engine bay.Again, that's what I remember about the article. Hope it helps.
