I want to put new rims and tires on my 95 Sahara. The current ones are stock (P225/75 R15). Whats the largest tire I can mount without having to do a lift. Will 31" tires fit without a problem. I been looking at rims in catalogues but dont understand all the sizes given.

Here is the deal. If you have a high mileage YJ 30's will just squeeze inside of the wheel wells. High mileage YJs most of the time will have spring fatigue.meaning that the jeep does not stand as tall as it did when it was new. 30x 10.50 x 15 will fit with no lift or modifications. that is max size for stock suspension. will look nice, but you actually get more traction with the stock size tires. the smaller tires distribute the weight out better, the big tires actually "float" on mud and snow and you will lose stability and traction. it just depends on what you do with it. if you just want to drive around town and look cool, do whatever you want, if you want to go 4x4ing or mudding or rock crawling, you adjust accordingly.yes 31/10.5/15 size tires should fit assuming that your stock suspension is still in good shape and not sagging. and if your not sure about metric size differences then check out this link. its pretty basic but should give you some idea how much bigger each size is

31's will not fit.. 30's will be the biggest you could go. I would recommend mickey thompson baja radials. they are wat I have always bought for my jeep. great traction in the mud, low road noise, and they are really aggresive looking! good choosing.

Listen (READ THIS) to me carefully...we just put 31'' tires on a 94 YJ...31X10.5X15...the leaf springs do not sag any and the tires look awesome...no lift but, they DO rub if you turn the wheel too far...we like the way they look and are learning to not cut the wheels too far left or right...the front tires WILL rub the leaf springs...if you expect to ride on a stock suspension I recommend 30X9.5 max tires...More Questions & Answers ...
