Possible to remove speed governer on 1995 Honda Civic?

Question:
I know this sounds sort of like a bad idea, but I was simply wondering. I have a 1995 Civic EX (has D16z6) and have got it to 100 mph, but then it simply stops. I am assuming that it is due to a speed governer, and I was wondering if that could be removed? And if so, would it cause any mechanical damage to my car if I drove more than 100 mph (I dont think it would go much higher than that anyways...) But if it is possible I am just wondering how it would be done. Thanks!

I am not aware of 92-95 Hondas having governors in the US. In japan they do. I believe @ 140 KM if i remember correctly.

does anyone own a Lamborghini Murcielago?

I had a 1992 Civic EX sedan equipped with 5 speed, ABS, and sunroof. It went up to 133MPH and still had more to go. It was very stable. Only mods were Tanabe Racing Medallion full cat-back, gutted stock cat, factory intake with filter removed and screen in place, and coilovers lowered about an inch below factory height.

Apexi makes a Rev Speed Meter that does remove governors, typically for JDM ECU's. I have installed one of these before into a 1998 Civic DX before. Takes about two hours to make it clean if you have experience. These usually go for $125 on ebay. Plus they are cool to look at. All digital display.!

Where can I buy a replacement CD for California only for my 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid Navigation System?

100 is fine, wouldn't pay. I went 110 in my corolla, wasn't anything special, basically same car. Plus you'll remove it and then go past 100 like once and then never again.

ok same question about cobalt ss supercharger for you stupid people?

You can buy a performance chip for your car, it will eliminate the governor amoung other things, also buy some bigger tires and wheels for added speed. 100mph isnt hard on a car as long as your tires can hold up to it and the motor/transmission arent being ran at high rpm's when reaching that speed. If so. stop before you have to buy a new car

My manual trunk release on my Toyota Camry broke. Can you fix that yourself or does it have to go to dealer?

you need to get a high performance sport chip to make it go faster, that is if your planning on tricking it out, if not then dont worrie about it, no need in getting unwanted speeding tickets, i've got an 88 honda civic crx it will do 150 just stock, so your car should at least go over 100 with no problem......
