There is so much in Michigan that they couldn't get it all in one state, so we had to split it up between the upper and lower peninsulas(Michigan is the only state in the lower 48 that has two parts). Yes, we don't have the best roads, but this is because of the vast amount of truck traffic that Michigan's industries require. Right now the auto industry is down, but it has been before and has come back up. It goes in cycles as do most businesses. Yes, I think my home state of Michigan is, as Tony the (Kellogg) Tiger would say, "GRRREAT!"...........GO BLUE!

Michigan is a great state, however certain city's like Detroit and Benton Harbor are very dangerous even to travel through let alone live in. South Haven is a great city (small) , Kalamazoo is a 3 in a scale to ten as far as City's go. GR - compaired to large city across in the Midwest I rate it a 2. Very limited choices in stores and if you like slow easy going live style Michigan is for you. Jobs choices are very limited and its back to the basics. It's a clean state for the most part, and a great place to relax.

The big three are cutting cushy union jobs left and right so it's open season on the real estate market as the stupid UAW people all leave in droves. Our biggest city, Detroit, is so derelict that there isn't even any smog over it. So I guess if you like nature and isolation, this is the place to be! You can try hunting wild turkey in one of the many urban prairies of Detroit, where healthy businesses once thrived but now are empty ruins.
