Rear brake backing plates are almost rusted away on my 01 silverado?

Question:
how hard is it to change these ? it has 4-wheel disc . also do you need any special tools to change the pads on the rear oh yea it is a Z-71

Answers:

What is this brand? What kind of cars do they make?

yes you should change them, they help direct cooling air towards the brake rotors as well as protecting them from road debri, you should be able to change them yourself, remember to block the front wheels before starting if your doing this on the ground, because you'll have to have the truck in nutural with at least one rear wheel off the ground, then remove brake caliper, rotor and caliper saddle, remove rear diff. inspection cover and rotate to find cross bolt, remove, then slide pin out, push axle shaft inwards slightly, use magnet to remove locking C clip, then slide axle out, take care to not turn the axle as well, you should probably change the axle seal while your there.

Is there a actual store I can go in and buy a 05-06 Toyota Tacoma V6 4.0, Short Ram?

You should just be able to take off the wheel, the brake pads, and they'll be right there on the axle.

I was wonderig what kind of gas milage does a ford arrowstar get i know it has a 21 gallon gas tank?

the hardest part is removing the emergency brake components, after that it will be fine. be carful not to lose the adjuster.

Whats better overall the 2006 Ford Focus or the 2006 Rolls-Royce Phantom.?

to replace these backing plates you will need to remove the axles and that means removing the carrier cover on the axle housing. if you are not mechanically savvy, this is a job better left to the pros. good luck getting the rotors off, when rusted they get hung up on the parking brake shoe.

Truthfully I don't even believe an O1 in Michigan(rust palace) would have the back plates or even the thin metal splash plates rusted out already.

How can I reset the service light on my ford Mondeo "M" reg ?

Common problem, hardest is to get rotors off around the park brake shoes, the backing plates are cheap and are stocked at my dealership, no special tools needed. If you are confident, you can do it yourself.

Before you order or ask for any parts make sure you actually know the piece you are looking for. I doubt if it is the backing plates but I do believe you need the shield which is a lot thinner than the backing plate.I've actually seen these rusted out 3 years ago on some 99 & 2000 trucks.
