Question:
Do I need a lift to put 31's on?

Can the factory rotors on 99 alero be "turned"?
I have a 2006 and a 31 inch tire should fit without rubbing. When you deceide to buy tires, have the shop install the 31,s and while its on the lift turn the wheel to see if it rubs.31's will fit stock rims, however the offset of that stock rim may cause slight rubbing on the lower controll arm when turned fully. You can avoid this with coil spacers, or a different rim. I would recommend a 15x8. Most of the aftermarket rims have a negative offset. A negative 18mm offset would be ideal.
I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with 31x10.5 and have no rubbing problem.I also have aftermarket 15x8 rims with 4.5 backspacing.I had to put wider fender flares on and for the lose of HP added a AEM air intake.Another person on this website has argued with me that 31's will not fit,but he is only saying that because he read it in a magazine.I will say that I have done some dune jumping and it will rub when the shocks and coils get depressed, but in everyday driving no rubbing at all.
Of course my friend, they will!
No, you don't nee a lift kit.
You will have only 1/2" extra height in radius and 1/2" extra width each side...
THEY WILL FIT!
