I'm debating buying a 2002 Mercedes c230 Kompressor and was wondering if anyone who's owened one or knows someone whos had them if they are decent cars that will last me a while. I would sell my jeep grand cherokee which has had no problems and dont want to end up with a car thats gonna keep on costing my repair money. Also, it would be rear wheel drive which I've never experienced before any tips on that? Thanks, Mike

I have exactly that! An '02 c230 Kompressor.. I have had it for almost 2 years and I love my car! You can definitely tell the difference in quality when driving a mercedes. There are a few maintenance problems though and I wasn't sure if it was because it is an 02 model. Another thing is the sound of the engine. When driving with the window down the sound is very noticeable and when up you can barely hear it. It is difficult to explain the noise but if you can imagine an almost sputter-like sound - I've researched a little and I believe it's the performance of the "supercharger". All in all though, I LOVE my car as I have said before and I absolutely love the style of it. It handles really well and has nice features inside and out. Just be cautious of the maintenance which the car pretty much lets you know what's wrong with the internal message screen behind the steering wheel (I'm sure I made that sound more glamorous than it actually is.. but still). Stay away from mercedes if your wanting a car that is reliable and cheap to repair.
there are about 10 formerly fwd cars switching to rwd for the 2008 models, so wait a few months and youll have a much bigger selection to choose from.

Mercedes owns the company that made your precious Jeep.(chrysler).The new Mercedes aren't bullet proof reliable as the previous ones which go on forever.The new ones are bit finnicky with the electronics.The c 230 is the base Benz it should be reliable enough after all you do drive a Jeep a mediocre American brand.If you want reliability get a Lame Lexus or Acura if you want recognition as a well of human being who has earned his or her status in society you drive nothing less than a Mercedes-Benz.More Questions & Answers ...
