no, no no no no. I bought a 93 ford probe gt (mx6) in 2001 for $3000 with 36,000 miles.After 100,000 miles, they are very expensive cars to own, and parts are hard to comeby.
If the car is original, this is what your going to need to replace soon-Transmission (very weak transmissions man/auto), ignition, alternator, water pump, belt tentioners, head gaskets, brake calipers,and distributer.
The engines themselves are pretty reliable. But if you ever have a problem with it, and cant do the work yourself, your going to be looking for a mechanic everywhere. I blew the tranny, and had no place to work on replacing it, so i spent a week finding a mechanic that would replace it, and the mazda dealer actually told me he wouldnt touch my car.
If i found another deal like i did the first time, i would buy another one. $1900 for 140,000 ... if it had a rebuilt tranny, new disty, ignition, water pump, belt tentioners, and calipers... id offer them $1400.

Check carsurvey.org. You'll find more frowny faces for the MX-6 than just about anything Mazda's made. That's still not many, but frankly there are better cars out there. Also if you are still thinking of the MX-6, the Ford Probe is mechanically the same, but better-looking.

Mazdas are generally very reliable cars (look at the Miata...one of the most reliable cars ever made), this just happens to be less reliable than the others.
