I own a shop, and have worked on American vehicles all my life. Stupid? I'm not sure I agree with that statement, but our measuring system is different. We may be stupid, but we now work on both American, and Metric. I would say it takes someone pretty smart to keep up with two systems while still doing the job correctly. Although I do find the metric system to be more simple, because everything is in even numbers. It would have been nice if both systems had been made into one system from the beginning, but it wasn't. If you will notice, almost all American vehicles now are in metric measurement, and the conversion has been very slow to take place, but take place it has. This doesn't mean the citizens have been quick to adopt the metric system, and some may never, but as long as they continue to call a 350 a 5.7 litre, it just might one day become a reality. Until then I for one will just call it a 350, and if someone wants to call it a 5.7 litre, then I am educated enough to discuss it both ways. Stupid, I don't know about that. The one thing that is frustrating is; the fact I had to purchase two complete set of tools, American Standard, and Metric. As a twist; suppose the world decided to change everything to American Standard, how would you take that? You do see my point, don't you?Glad to help out, good Luck!
