I drove it home, no problems.
I parked in my driveway for 15 minutes, and when I went to move it all I get is a "click click"?
No whirring of the starter, Nothing but "click click"?
*(The Voltmeter on the dash moves only a 1/4 inch )
Now I called AAA and they sent someone out to give me a jump, and they sent some pathetic schmuck that looks like he's been on the clock since yesterday. As for his Automotive experience. I'm sorry,. but was very limited even to my experience of working in a gas station of 5 years.
It took the guy 20 minutes to try and put a tow hook on my front bumper for the love of mike.
His attitude was more like he'd rather be bothered by someone other than me, and would make snide comments about the kind of people he has to deal with today and gave very little response to anything I did ask him. We all know the type, Right?

I tried jumping the solenoid, (located on the fender well)

your altinator went out. replace that and it should all work perfect.Cuz its a ford buy a chevy, but it is more than likely its your solenoid on your starter because if ur alternator was out the vault meter on the dash would not move at all. try to tap your solenoid and see if that works.

When he tried to jump it, was there any different sound in the starter? did it crank when he tried to jump it? tried a different battery?
If the battery is ok ...then I would say the starter is ceased and needs replacing. I have a 92 ford and the starter had to be replaced last year.so yours is probably due! Ford starters have a habit of never giving any warning signals.they just go like yours did!

Sounds like a bad ground to me. make sure all battery connections are tight and clean, that there is no corrosion in the cable ends, that ground cable is tight at both ends.If all this seems good, check the battery voltage with voltmeter: it should be 12-13.5 volts, no lower. If it's lower, charge it. if it doesn't hold the charge, replace it.
Odds are if the battery is fully charged, clean connections, good cables, solenoid functions properly, it's the starter. Good luck!

ford mech.for 24 years.the starter is lock up if you have proper voltagein battery, the starter is lock up, take a hammer and a friend and have your Friend hold down the ignition to start and you hit the starter with a hammer. it should start..no matter kind of car you have they all break down, you have to fix them...

Just jumping the starter solenoid on the wall don't mean anything as most Fords after about 1992 has 2 starter solenoids on it. Yes stupid but usually one on the starter and one on the wall.
But I agree with some others, you need to see if you might have broke the strap in the battery (kinds of sounds like it.. will give you the voltage sometimes but not the current).. a bad cable/grounding or something else before saying alternator right off the bat...

I would first check that the battery is up to par.Are the lights bright when you turn them on?After checking battery.If battery is strong, check battery cables for corrosion and that they are on tight.If battery is strong and cables are good.It could be that the starter celanoid went bad.Usually this clicking noise is because of a low battery or celanoid at fault.Replace celanoid.If this sympton persists.It is possible that the starter motor is at fault.Usually a starter celanoid will make this noise , but then do its' job and supply the starter with electrical current after a couple of tries.and then start the vehicle.This is usually a sign that the celanoid is going bad.Hey can any one tell me how is new maruti alto lx , is it nice to hav it?
