My RS does very well in the snow. I always put on winter tires and I find that I generally have one of the best handling cars in the snow around. In fact I've often passed stuck SUV's and pickups... Yes. It, like all Subaru's has AWD(all-wheel-drive) plus fully independent suspension. This translates into very nice handling on or off road, even in the snow!! However, consider the Baja over the Impreza, the Baja is slightly higher and more versatile with the combination of truck/4d sedan. Always go for the manual over automatic. The RS and WRX have identical suspension components. However the biggest downfall to the impreza in terms of handling in the snow is the stock tires (Potenza RE-92).
