if it had a warranty on it, for days or miles, I would return to the dealer for repairs. if past warranty, aftermarket or factory warranty, then I would check to see if any recalls are out there to see if you can get it fixed for free. past that..call up a mechanic, its time to throw some dough.I need to decide between a between buying a RAV 4 and a Honda CRV.?

If the turbo was bad, it would not provide good boost, and you'd have bearing noise as well as blue somke coming from the tailpipe..due to the bearing seals leaking.

Well, its going to make a whirling noise and a hiss from the air intake, but the connection between the turbo and the intake maybe loose, and just needs a little tightening.

This reminds me of the days of the carburator. Blame something we don't understand. Could it be that the clamp that goes around the intake hose into the turbo is not tight enough, or it is leaking on the output side?The turbo will not work well if it cannot inject that extra air/fuel into the engine because of leaks. (compare it to a ratty vacuum cleaner hose - same idea)
Bone up on it or take it to a mechanic(doesn't have to be a dealer - as many cars have turbos these days) to have a boo at it.
