Question:
its just failed the MOT on brakes, discs and pads needed all round, and the garage requires one of my arms and legs for them to do it. However, as i am capable of completing the work myself i will be,but does anyone know of any pitfalls too look out for,and/or any hints tips? Many thanks in advance

I have a 97 ford taurus, the power window on my drivers side went down now it wont go back up.?
Replacing pads/disks isnt tough at all. I assume you know the basics of how to do it, but if you dont, go to your local auto parts shop and purchase a Hayes manual for your car (about $15) and it will tell you how step by step.2" Lift Jeep TJ 06 Wrangler X?
The only thing to be VERY careful of is the handling of the caliper itself. NEVER let it hang down by the brake line, and be VERY careful not to have a screwdriver slip and hit it. In both cases, you could rupture the line, and you'll be paying alot more than an arm and a leg for the repair.
mekownknown above is right, its not a hard job.
But if youve never done it before get a workshop manual for your model of car so you know exactly what your doing,
And as he says support the caliper ! it may look like its fine hanging from the break line, but when it splits through the hairline crack you made by not supporting it bye bye breaks and a half a ton of vehicle is suddenly going to hit something very hard.
