Whats the difference between the BMW series 1 through 7?
I heard somewhere that when you turn your key foward to the battery you should be able to hear a humming noise where the fuel pump is, if you cant it might be your fuel pump, Im not 100% positive about this its just what i heard, so you might want to look and see if other people say this,, hope this helpshave someone just turn on the key don't start it. you go to the back of the vehicle and listen for a swishing sound. If you don't hear that. Your fuel pump is out.
How do i take off the washer nozzles on my hood 2005 toyota tundra sr5?
Pull a plug wire, crank it make sure there is spark. If so, then have somebody crank it over and bang on the bottom of fuel tank with your fist or equivalent. If it starts then, your pump is on it's way out.Does anyone know how much the FORD X-Plan will save on a new FORD vehicle?
I have an 02 and it has a relay or a fuse for the pump. good luckAlexis hit it on the nail... well, almost. The fuel pump will only run for a couple of seconds after the ignition is turned on unless the engine has started. This means that by the time you get to the tank, it will not run even if it's ok. The solution is: have somebody else turn the key when you are standing next to the fuel tank. The rest is correct.
Now, bad fuel pump (or a pump fuse or a pump relay or.) will cause a no-start condition but there are literally hundreds of other possibilities like a dead ignition module, failed ECM, etc.
Good luck!
you can check by getting a friend to turn on the ignition switch while you put your ear on the fuel tank if no buzz comes from it while they turn the switch off and on then it;s very possible the pump is shot then get a repair book from an auto parts store it;s cheaper plus you cam teach yourself a thing or two
Tell you what take a plug out after turning the ignition to battery. If there is fuel in the cylinder your fuel pump is good, then put the plug back in and try to turn the engine over then take the plug back out ,if there is fuel on the plug your plug is gone.If that does not work take the plug out and this is if the plug is firing and pour a little oil in the cylinder and put the plug back in and turn the engine over if it starts it will smoke till the oil burns out of the cylinder, which will not take very long,if it starts and stays running it could have been sitting too long and if it doesn't it is more than just the fuel pump.

How do i fix a 2002 jetta gls 1.8t with transmission problems?
Yes you can listen for the fuel pump while a friend turns the key. What does that tell you? Your pump operates-but is it good enough?? the engine will not start if the fuel pressure is below a certain PSI pressure. The only accurate way is to connect a fuel pressure gage to the fuel injection rail port on the intake manifold and read that pressure. You nned to know what it is supposed to be by consulting a proper manual.
DO NOT remove plug wires and crank the engine as you may damage your coil/coils. On Chrysler /Dodge you must insert a spark plug into the wire and then crank the engine to view the spark on your spark plug.
Does my 2006 Porsche Boxster have a tracking chip??
I have seen a lot of crank sensors and PCM's as well as coils do this to folks after sitting. A good shop with a good scanner may be required to avoid undue expense.
