Engine Swap?

Question:
swap out a Ford 300 inline 6... What would be a good engine (V8) to replace? Would I have to change anything? The truck is a 79' Ford F-150 4 wheel drive. I was thinking a 5.0L 302....

Either the 5.0, or 5.8l (351w) are good choices. The bellhousing for the 300 will fit either engine, but both will require changes like engine mounts, radiator, ETC. I'd say for the trouble the 5.8l might be more worthwhile, that's purely a matter of opinion. On the other hand a 300 I6 can be potent if correctly built, and that's what I would do because you can't beat the reliability of the 300 IMHO.
