Question:
is it possible to just put on the ls/vtec conversion or just build up the motor in an ls and just go boost, i heard how unreliable the ls/vtecs are due the redline factor and how they can't redline as much as a ls head. but then i hear that u can get as much power if not more than just boost a b18a/b motor. i just need a decision to have lots of reliability along with power to keep up with decent tuners....

if you build and ls/vtec correctly, you will have plenty of power and reliabilty. if you built a turbo ls, you will have more power and plenty of reliabilty. one thing to keep in mind when you are build any engine for boost is not to have a high compression ratio or you will fry thing bottom end in no time. also, redline line on a honda is overrated. i have not seen a honda engine that has alot of power near redline, and i have seen them over 500hp. in MOST not all, after 6 to 6500, power drops off. by 7000, you are well below peak power. you want your shift light to kick on when changing gears will put you very near the peak of your power, not run it to 9000 and then shift like most people think. the reason it drops of so quickly is because the rotating mass is producing alot of heat and fuel is not burning as it should due to this extra heat generated. this is the only problem i have ever had with a honda engine and have not found a good street legal solution other than oil cooler, which helps only slightly.either way you go, do it correctly and you should have no problems with getting from point a to point b and everywhere in between.
by the way, i have both and the vtec wannabe, as i call it, or even a real vtec, could never hang with a blown ls. but a good turbo setup will cost you.
Subaru low oil pressure senser?
If you don't want headaches I would suggest just swapping in a b18c and keep it all motor since you care about reliability. If you go ls/v-tec theres alot to that and later on you might have more problems that setup is more towards the racers I wouldn't put that setup in my daily driver. And I know what Im talking about I did my own gsr swap into my si eg.

Need the meanings of the Toyota Echo idiot lights.?
I've been driving my ls/vtec hatch for two years with no problems...It all depends on how its built...get it done right and you'll be driving it for a while and it feels like you are on boost! Its pretty damn nasty! Turbos not a bad idea either but your going to have to keep throwing money into it. Either choice you make, your going to have to take care of the car like a BABY! haha but from my own experience i'd say LS/vtec for sure! theres nothing like it. Ive done turbo and ls/vtec and it you get real good, ls/vtec turbo....I wouldnt do it but if you do...you will have the nasty car in your town for sure! good luck browHERE IS THE FUEL RESET SWITCH ON A 1998 CHEVY PICKUP?
could go with the CRV B20/ vtec swap it has more hp than the ls vtec the B20vtec will put out 200+ hp n/a and the compression for the B20b (97-98 CRV has 8.8:1. and the B20z (99-01 CRV has 10.2.:1 the B20z is better N/A the B20B-will hold up to a turbo great. the swap is the same as the Ls vtec this will give ya the power you need. good luck ,More Questions & Answers ...
