You have to calibrate it I think. I just read in the owners manual on my 2002 Explorer, the sensor is below the rear view mirror. There is a tiny button you push with a paper clip until the display says cal. Then you drive in circles until it is done. Hope that helps.

you didn't say what year or the problem.. if wrong temperature... need sensor, if wrong or no compass need compass module, if blank, it's fuse or overhead compass display is out.
