Question:
On occasion, I will start my car and immediately drive away. Well when I get going the car begins to stutter a little bit and won't accelerate, and then eventually shut off. The engine light and the "ETS" light will now come on. When it dies i have to pump the gas and try to start it, and I have to be applying a little bit of gas when I put it into drive, otherwise it will shut off again. Driving it will fix this problem for the time and won't shut off anymore until sometime in the future when it will eventually do the same. The lights stay on forever now.

Any ideas? I'm probably the most car illiterate person in the entire world. :(

You might need a major tune-up. I also have a 1997 Grand Am gt 2.4 2 doors. If there is an Auto Zone close to where you live, they do scans for free and could tell you whats wrong with your car.Which mobile goes in a mercedes e class?
For my major tune-up, I needed to get new spark plugs, a new fuel filter (you'll have to take it in since it is restricted), and the injectors had to be clean. That costed me a total of around $220.
I wouldn't say your car illiterate, i don't know everything either, my other half fixes everything for me... I have a 94 Gand Am SE, I can ask him and see what he says, about it. He loves playing with cars. He'll probably say something along the lines of "Getting another car and to stay away from Pontiac" I don't think there is anything wrong with 'em. I love my Grand Am. if ya want me to find out more let me know.
