my dad is looking to buy a car and he doesn't want to buy an amerian made one. we really want a subaru, but those can be really pricey. there seem to be a lot of hyundai and kia cars around.....so we were wondering if they are good cars to buy.
How much does it cost to run a Porsche 911 over a year?
if you know anything about them can you tell me if they are reliable, and any problems you've had with them. would you recomend buying one?

hyundais have greatly improved. they have a good warranty. the car will definitely get you to point a to point b. luxury cars are overrated. you can't sleep in them nor eat them. you drive them and that's it.Cost to replace 2000 Jetta hood. Worth an ins. claim?
I owned a KIA (Killed in Action) Sephia before they stopped making them. During the 4 years I owned it, I replaced both front brake systems (not just the pads, rotors and all). I replaced the battery, alternator, tires (twice). The front end was out of alignment and because of the way the vehicle was made could not be realigned 100% true. Then my A/C went out and put out so much heat that it melted the front dash board. That is when I said enough is enough and PAID the dealer to take it off my hands on a trade for a new vehicle. I don't know if the newer models are any better, I guess there must be some people who are happy with them. did you know that a brand-new kia, fully gassed with one passenger (driver) cant make it up a gentle hill? my mom's 7 year old camry with everyone in it beat my dad up a hill on a test drive!
kias have a tendency to stall when left out in the cold, or in a puddle of water (not good when you live in south jersey). you're probably thinking, "duh!" but the car simply will not start. with most cars, it only takes the engine to get warm but with kias, no dice.
hyundais, however are a different story. sorry i got carried away, i thought you said "honda". DONT BUY ONE! my father used to work for honda, then switched to dodge. long story short, he found out through classes he took about the product that the cars simply are for show. ever wonder why they're so cheap? ever wonder why the salesmen always try to push the warranty on you? IT"S CUZ YOU"L NEED ONE!

if you all are adamant about foreign cars, try a toyota. my mom's was a '92 camry and stayed with us till 2000. we only replaced the transmission once, besides routine maintenance.

Hyundai is a bad idea and so is Kia. Sure, they are a little cheaper new, but they LOSE VALUE very fast, so in other words, when your Dad is ready to sell or trade that car in, it is going to be worth SO MUCH LESS than a Subaru or Honda or Toyota of the same price would have been that it destroys any savings he might have had.

Those are all reasonably priced cars that start at lower prices than Subaru's do and they are very roomy for their size, very safe, get better gas mileage than any Subaru and will be WAY more reliable than any Hyundai or Kia and even Subaru.

They are cracking little cars if you can put up with the monumental depreciation! If you are prepared to buy one, treat it like a consumable that will have no resale value as soon as you have bought it.if steve irwin got run over by a '65 corvette, would he still be dead from a stingray?
Yes they are good, but the old ones are bad. Do not buy the ones that are older than 5 years.They both have had a bad rap but both are vastly improved over the past. Both now offer excellent warranties that can't be beat. Many models of Hyundai and Kia have won numerous awards for quality and safety. Hyundai opened a factory in Alabama and Kia is opening one soon in Georgia. They are a strongly growing company with alot to offer to the smart consumer.

No they stink one of my friends has a 2006 Hyundai sonata and it is crap!. It drives very poorly on the high way and it has no passing power at all. the only good thing is that it sips gas. I have a 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1L Coupe and it has more room in the back seats and you could fit like three golf bags in the trunk. It has good passing power and handles very nicely. Best of all I only payed like 700 for it.
