My Car is Hyundai Accent 96 Model, and my Speedometer is raising even if my speed is in normal, hw can i fix?

Hey there. I noticed the same problem in my car. I've noticed it only happens when it's cold. The colder it is, the worse it will get. You'll be going 30km/h, spedometer will be up at 180. Sometimes it will even top off when at higher speed. Depending on the temperature inside the car, there are a few options.

a) Heat up the car.... use your hand to warm up the plastic in front of the spedometer. Once the plastic in front of the spedometer is at a regular temperature the speed will display accurately.

b) if not going too fast, or not a lot of cold, press lightly on the plastic window right in the middle of the spedometer, or a little higher. If it's not too cold that will show the accurate speed.

The warmer the inside of the car, the more the plastic window warms, the less it will happen. I've just learnt to deal with it, and get to be a good judge of how fast I'm going by the scenery around me.

Why it happens? I think that the cold shrinks the plastic, and it doesn't put enough pressure on the spedometer arrow, causing it to misread. Combine that with the gears inside the spedometer shrinking in the cold.... Well there you have it :)
