A good lift kit won't destroy your truck. However, you must consider the geometry of the drive line and keep it with in factory specs to avoid problems (u-joints, transmission problems). This indicates that the lift itself is not the determining factor in how well your truck will perform. As said above, this will not iprove your truck's value at all! If you plan to lift your truck for better off road performance/ ability and not use te truck as a highway vehicle, then go for it.
