Question:
Can't find any cam timing marks on this engine. It's a 4x4 and that makes a differance as it has a balance shaft . It's a overhead cam (not pushrod). The crank gear is keyed but that's it. There are no marks on the jack shaft gear. Thats the gear above the crank gear. It's called a jackshaft gear as the is a jackshaft that goes through the engine to operate the right cam. The left cam operates off of a gear that is connected to and is right behind the jackshaft gear. The problem is that none of these gears are marked or keyed in anyway. The jackshaft gear, the drive gear for the left cam (located behind the jackshaft gear) and the gear that connectes the left cam chain to the cam. These 3 gears can be set on in position. How can I set the cam timing on this engine??

buy the book, find out it takes special tools to hold cam and crank to time cam/crank gear as you can't see to time back gear anyway (passenger side gear is on the back close to the firewall if I remember)More Questions & Answers ...
