BMW are hyper sensitive to cooling problems. The main thing that mechanics overlook when working on BMW's is properly bleeding the cooling systems. I would suspect that this is your problem. I would take the car to BMW and have someone check out the cooling systems. Again BMW's are very heat sensitive, 9 times out of 10 if you overheat a BMW you will have damaged the head or head gasket. A BMW dealership will be able to check the coolant to see if any exhaust is in the coolant. This would be a sign of a head/head gasket failure.1993 Pontiac Sunbird Convertible Side Weatherstrips?
Common mistakes when bleeding BMW cooling systems, identify the number of bleeder valves and bleed off all of them. Verify a positive flow of coolant, both the flow and return hoses will pressurize and heat up, passenger cabin will have heat, engine temp gage will remain in the normal area (around 120c).
Make sure passenger cabin heater controls are on max.
I have a 2003 Volvo XC90. Is it worth buying the extended warranty?
Next commonly overlooked problem is the fan clutch, BMW's use a thermal switch on the fan clutch, the fan clutch should engage when the vehicle reaches a temperature of 120-160 degrees Celsius.

After fan clutch then thermostat, water pump, radiator.
What kind of upgrades can u put in a eclipse gs?(turbos,etc...)?
first mistake, is taking it to the dealers. take it to a local NAPA service center.the pressure is normal for a cooling system, but too much, and it gets forced out.
sounds like an air bubble issue.

It's your thermostat.Anyone who has or had a Saab 900S can you please provide your opinion on this car? Thanks!?
i own a repair shop, and you could have a bad thermostat in it ,or it may have a head gasket that is letting pressure escape in to the coolant chamber, this will cause a high build up of pressure and make it run hot also, there are several things that can cause this to happen though, you need to just let them check it real good and see what they find out about it,it may not be to bad on this one but have it checked, and most of the time its best to let them repair it,once they do then there responsible for it,good luck with it i hope this helps.Ford racing supercharger for a 2003 mustang cobra? will it fit on a 1996 mustang cobra?
i have a 528i also. This car always had overheating problems. I lost an engine due to it. check the following items, thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator. Most likely its not the thermostat, thats what people told me, that it was the thermostat, but it wasnt. Then I changed almost all the components of the cooling system, and it still overheated. After I changed the engine I took it to the BMW dealer, and it was some kind of valve that was stuck closed, but it took them like 4 hours to figure that out after I told them all my history with overheating on that car.But your car, does the needle go into the red when when you stay at a red light or something? or is it just the pressure? First, just try to bleed the system. Don't do it yourself, cause BMW are complicated, its very important to be absolutely no air in the installation. maybe thats the problem with you. Take it to the dealer and tell them to bleed your system only. Just drive around like this for a couple of days and see if it still continues. If it does, its something more complicated. Most likely the housing. Like I said, its a complicated situation with this car and overheating. Take it to the dealer, its what I would recommend, but I can't say that will fix it. Anyway, good luck, and hope you'll solve this problem
Trouble with pressure control solenoid in 06 Toyota Corolla?
Hello Armen,As kristian said the cooling system in BMW are very sensitive and it will be never work properly when there is a air bubble trapped inside. We have to properly bleed the coolant. An experinced mechanic (BMW experienced) will do it.I have given some tips which is stated in the Haynes Manual and it is as follows
Overheating reasons
1. Insufficient coolant in system .
2. Water pump drivebelt defective or out of adjustment .
3. Radiator matrix blocked, or grille restricted .
4. Thermostat faulty
5. Radiator cap not maintaining proper pressure .
6. Ignition timing incorrect

A simple test whether thermostat is the culprit or not?
If the engine runs hot, use your hand to
check the temperature of the upper radiator
hose. If the hose isn’t hot, but the engine is,
the thermostat is probably stuck closed,
All the best.
