I have a 2003 jeep liberty 2wd. I had some serious problems with it right after buying it but they seem to be resolved now. I get approx. 17mpg which is worse than most small SUVs, but the 3.7L v6 produces 210hp which is as much as most full size SUVs. The liberty drives great and is quiet running down the highway. It seems to be well built and rugged like a jeep should be. If you don't care about getting great gas mileage I would recommend the Liberty.yes they are the jeep was invented in the first world war i believe known for its ruggedness. i would buy one if i could

do you need 4 wheel drive..they get poor gas mileage....they also flip over easily... id get a Honda or Toyota for gas mileage cost of repairs and resale value.Liberties dont flip, Its something Called E.S.P. some show called 60 minutes last month said E.S.P. was the greatest safety advance since seat belts. and lease's on a LIbert are AWSOME! without the maintinece costs of imports!

For me it was safety. With that said, my father in law has a Liberty and likes it a great deal because he can tow it behind an RV with the transfer case disengaged and not have miles being put on it while being towed.
