2001 hyundai accent fuel filter location ?

Question:
i have located what appears to be the fuel pump mounted
to the left of the fuel tank. attached to the pump there is a
strange black box that seems to be filled with sand ?
I received an answer last night that says the pump and the
filter are inside the fuel tank...

The strange box is for your fuel recirculation system. Far as I know, and I have on '02 Hyundai, the fuel pump and the filter are inside the fuel tank. You haveto remove the rear set to acess the top of the tank. There is a round cover attached to the top of the tank. Remove the screws and pull the entire assy up. Make sure you disconect the harness going to the pump BEFORE you do this and be aware of the seal for the cover. Oh, and have plenty of rags on hand.

I'm betting the fuel pump and filter are in the tank, where a lot of manufacturers are putting them. Get a Chilton's manual for your vehicle if your going to attempt any maintenance yourself.
