I own a 2000 Toyota Corolla. It is using about a quart a oil per gas tank any suggestions.?

Question:
The car runs great. It is not leaking any oil but seems to burn it. The car has 79,000 miles. I recently put a couple cans of CFM cleaner and oil additives. Is there a crank case filer or something that could cause the car to build pressure and blow oil buy in the cyclinder causing accessive oil burn

I have a 2001 Corolla and have the same problem. I came upon your post as I was browsing the internet in search of a solution. I haven't found one yet... but I have found many people so far reporting that same problem. It's apparently an issue with this 1.8 litre engine. So keep lots of oil around... but recognize that you are very much not alone in this problem. It's common to the model, and is not at all specific to your car alone.

1992 buick regal; that thing the headlight assemblys are atatched to?

i mechanic for a living and, usually when this happens to one it has been ran hot,,this will cause it to use oil like that ,and some of those additives will make one use oil,id try changing the oil,and get that stuff out of it,,with that low of miles on it i would have never put that in it,,i don't know who told you to do that,,but it didn't need,, it only high mileage vehicles benefit from this stuff, and half the time it doesn't help them either, you need to get it out,and see if that stops it from burning oil,i hope it does help it,,when you have a good low miles car you don't need that stuff, good luck with it i hope this help,s.

I'm just a girl but a quart of oil per tank of gas (approx 300 miles) seems alot to me. Sounds like you need to go see a mechanic.
My Corolla is a 2003 and I drive a ton of miles every year (that is the reason for the Corolla) and mecanically I have followed the manufactures suggested "tune-ups" etc.

My 2003 has 126,000 miles and no oil loss. 79,000 miles in 7 years is not much for a car like a Toyota.

Do a full oil change + new oil filter. Add new oil and a "stop smoke additive" it will continue to smoke for a while but it will improve.
